CITY AND REGIONAL PLANNING DEPARTMENT SUMMER PRACTICES
Students are required to complete two mandatory summer practices: CRP 300 (Planning Office Internship) Summer Practice I and CRP 400 (Public Institution Internship) Summer Practice II.
Through summer practices, students gain fundamental experience and knowledge about what professional practices are and how they are implemented in private planning offices and public institutions, the two main work environments where the planning profession is practiced.
Summer practices are an important part of the educational process. During these internships, students are expected to participate in ongoing projects and projects, as well as observe workplace operations. Furthermore, students will gain diverse professional knowledge and skills during their internships. They also gain experience applying the knowledge they have obtained in school. Another purpose of summer practice is to prepare students for their professional lives.
SUMMER PRACTICE COURSES
Summer Practice Courses must be completed during the summer term following the first and second year of study and taken as a course the following fall term. The final grade will be recorded on the student’s transcript.
THE STRUCTURE OF SUMMER PRACTICES
Summer practices must be completed within 20 working days. Public holidays will not be counted as internship days. The summer practice forms must specify whether the workplace operates on Saturdays, and the days must be calculated accordingly. The internship schedule is announced in the spring semester of each academic year. Students will be responsible for completing the procedures listed on this schedule.
The offices and institutions where the summer practice take place must be workplaces where the planning profession is fully implemented, and the workplace must employ a planner responsible for the student’s internship. Students should make their selections accordingly.
